This series of abstract paintings is based on my imagination, inspired by a memory, a photo, a conversation, or a song, which I transfer to the canvas using overlapping layers of color with bold marks made with brushes, scrapers, and sometimes household objects. Acrylic on paper, 33” x 45”. I’m definitely inspired by Joan Mitchell’s work. I love her brush strokes and the way her work invokes the feelings of the scene she was painting. Her work speaks to me and certainly influences my work.
